The Agafay Desert, a Mirage at the City's Gates

Approximately 40 minutes from Marrakech, the Agafay Desert unfolds its stony hills and lunar horizons, with the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. While not a sand desert, its stark, mineral atmosphere is breathtaking, especially at sunset. Activities include camel rides (often around €30 for approximately one hour at sunset), quad bike tours (starting from around €35 to €55), or buggy adventures, and dinners under a Berber tent with live music (around €55 per person). Many camps offer transfers from Marrakech. Prices are indicative and vary by provider: always request a quote.

The Ourika Valley, a Green Escape

Journey south, at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains: the Ourika Valley is the closest mountain valley to Marrakech, about 30 km away, barely an hour's drive. Follow the river, winding between traditional Berber villages made of adobe and shaded terraces. The village of Setti Fatma, at an altitude of approximately 1,500 m, is the starting point for the hike to the famous seven waterfalls of Ourika: natural pools, mountain trails, and panoramic views of the peaks. An ideal day to breathe fresh air and cool off, with family or friends.
