A 5-Day Trip to Marrakech: Your Itinerary from the Villa
Five days in Marrakech, perfectly organized from a luxury villa in Amelkis: explore the Medina, enchanting gardens, Agafay or Ourika, play golf, and discover smart travel tips.
Organizing a trip to Marrakech hinges on a few key elements: planning your days effectively, minimizing travel time, and finding a serene place where your group can relax together in the evenings. Here’s the five-day itinerary we provide to our guests, designed from our villa in Amelkis, just seventeen minutes from the Medina.
Day 1 — Arrival, Settle In, First Sunset
Marrakech Menara Airport is a mere fifteen minutes from the villa. We highly recommend arranging private transfers: with luggage and children, it’s the only journey truly worth the expense.
The afternoon is yours to enjoy at the villa: bask by the heated pool, relax on the terrace overlooking the golf course, or do your grocery shopping at Targa market or the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali supermarket. For your first evening, dine at home – a private chef can be arranged to prepare a delicious tagine and pastilla.
Day 2 — Discover the Medina Without Rushing
Depart at 9 AM, before the heat sets in and the crowds gather. The optimal route is: Koutoubia Mosque, Ben Youssef Madrasa, Bahia Palace, then winding through the souks back towards Jemaa el-Fna Square.
Negotiate gently, suggest half of the initial asking price, and always smile. Commerce here is a conversation, not a confrontation.
Enjoy lunch on a rooftop terrace overlooking the square, return to the villa for a refreshing siesta, then head back out at 6 PM: Jemaa el-Fna at dusk is a completely different experience from midday.
Day 3 — Gardens, Lifestyle, and Gueliz
Spend your morning at the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum – remember to book tickets online for the 8:30 AM slot. Anima Garden, further along the Ourika road, is worth half a day if you prefer nature to museums.
Have lunch in Gueliz, the modern district, with its trendy cafes, concept stores, and art galleries. In the afternoon, indulge in a hammam and massage – either at an external spa or directly at the villa.
Day 4 — Agafay, Ourika, or the Atlas Mountains
Choose one unforgettable excursion:
- Agafay Desert — A 45-minute drive to a lunar landscape, with dinner under a tent and a star-studded sky.
- Ourika Valley — A 1-hour drive to stunning waterfalls, enjoy lunch by the river, offering welcome coolness in summer.
- Imlil and Toubkal — A 1.5-hour journey for a gentle hike through Berber villages.
| Excursion | Travel Time | Ideal For |
|---|---|---|
| Agafay | 45 min | Sunsets, couples |
| Ourika | 1 h | Families, July-August heat |
| Imlil | 1 h 30 | Hikers, spring and autumn |
Day 5 — Golf, Relaxation, and Departure
Amelkis Golf Course 3 is directly opposite the villa: enjoy an early tee-off for eighteen holes before noon. For others, spend the morning in the sauna, jacuzzi, and fitness room, enjoy lunch by the pool, then depart in the late afternoon.
The Villa Advantage for Your Stay
A group trip to Marrakech often revolves around the in-between moments: leisurely breakfasts, children's naps, evening aperitifs. A private villa seamlessly accommodates all of this, unlike a hotel with its fixed schedules. For groups of six or more, an entire villa often costs less than booking equivalent hotel rooms.
Our villa accommodates up to twelve guests across five suites, featuring a heated pool year-round, sauna, jacuzzi, and a private 1,700 m² park. A minimum stay of five nights applies, priced at 600 € per night in low season and 800 € in high season.
